Volunteers and students explore relative sizes and distances of planets.
How far apart are the planets? How big is Jupiter compared to Earth? These were some of the questions answered as Hands On Gainesville volunteers measure the distance between planets (with Earth at 1A.U = 1 meter). Students took home bead chains that represent the planets to scale while comparing them to the 40 mm sized beach ball “sun”.
